Welcome
to your sneak peek at the new Starport.com, the science fiction
and entertainment site of SPACE.com, the definitive media company
dedicated to space and all space-related subjects. As the entertainment
side of the company, Starport's primary mission is to nurture the
idea that space can be a source of inspiration, adventure and, ultimately,
wonder. The face of space we see here is bigger than number, more
complex than theory and directly relevant to the human heart and
imagination.
Look up. Watch the skies. Keep your blaster
handy.
Over the next few months, we will be ramping
up some exciting new content and functionality (all the usual advertising
slogans and selling points that every other Web site uses) but the
Starport team -- new and old -- felt that you, our target audience,
should get the chance to see behind the curtain and weigh in with
your opinions, suggestions, and constructive commentary.
The traditional audience for science fiction
entertainment is famous for its adaptability and love of novelty,
and for a certain . . . outspoken character. SF fans love to talk
about what they love and what they hate.
Let's get acquainted.
